Since of course we all need a pro looking, galvanizing site that displays our company well, and something we can show off to our clients together with possible clients.

however , if you just take into account the look of a site and not the way in which it'll perform on the search websites, then you may be missing out! We mostly say that having a web site presence isn't sufficient, you want a search engine presence, and by having a search site friendly website you're prepared to get the most out of any S.E.O campaign you do.

So what are usual slips?

1. Webpages built in flash often folks select flash as it can have an eye catching and powerful appearance. However by developing a flash website you are basically 'hiding' your website's content from the search sites. Search websites can't read any of the copy on a flash site

2. Sites built in frames Just like using flash sites, sites built in frames once again 'hide' the content from the search websites. When a search website 'bot' gets to the website, it is unable to creep the content as it can't see it : therefore meaning it isn't processed by the search engines.

3. Embedding Wording In images though photographs can look good and truly lift the visual overall appeal of a web-site, beware of showing copy within the image. Text which is part of an image, can't be read by the search sites.

4.. Domain names that aren't S.E.O friendly often the most evident choice for a URL may be a business' name, but by including only this you will be missing further boosting your S.E.O campaign. Simply by including a chief keyword/keywords within the URL, you will enhance your ranking for that key phrase .

Related Subjects

Web Design Cost
web design

Ecommerce web design for beginners

It's sometimes hard to imagine what the world looked like a mere twenty years ago. It was a world without ecommerce. A world without any online business. A world where you could not order pizzas online or pay your telephone bill with the click of a mouse. Today we take it as accepted that every business should have a website. Australia is no exception to this rule. Virtually every business, big and small, knows that a web presence is essential. The ecommerce web design Australia industry has therefore evolved into a flourishing and professional one.

There are hundreds of thousands of ecommerce sites that belong to Australian businesses. All those internet sites were designed and have to be maintained by a group of professionals called website designer. With the advent of web programming languages like PHP and ASP, these people should probably rather be called web programmers, because they are definitely involved in the programming business.

Before you choose a web designer, you must first analyze your own needs. If you run a business from home and you would like to sell your products online, your needs are different from someone who has a wholesale business with thousands of products.

There's a few very important elements of any commercially successful website. One of the most important is a user-friendly shopping experience. The prospective buyer must be able to remove products which he has selected from the shopping cart at any time, as well as add new products. The process must be easy and error free. You can lost as much as 80% of online orders by having a shopping cart program that is difficult to understand and inflexible.

A second absolute must is that the website has to be secure. Clearly state that on the site itself and make sure that the visitor's browser will also indicate that it's a secure site. Many people are not comfortable with using their credit card on the Net and if you really want them running in all directions your site must have security warning messages popping up or error messages stating that the security certificate is no longer valid.

You will also need a company to process the payments. They will check whether the buyer has enough money in his account for the transaction, charge his card and then transfer the funds to your bank account or hold it in an escrow account on your behalf.

Your website should at all times look professional in terms of design and layout. If it looks like it has been designed by your cousin in high school, it will give a low-budget amateurish image and people might be scared to do business with you.

You will be surprised what could entice people to stay on your website and what could scare them off. Research has shown that different areas on a web page get different click- through rates. Different color combinations have different effects on people's tendency to buy and even font styles and font sizes might create an image of professionalism or not.

A good Australian ecommerce web site design company will assist you with all the above. They will explain the technical intricacies to you and give you a a clear summary of how they arrived at the quote for designing your website. Ecommerce web site design Australia has evolved into a highly professional service and you can expect and will get top quality service.

Ecommerce website design- what you should know

It's sometimes hard to think what the world looked like a mere twenty years ago. It was a world without ecommerce. A world without any online business. A world where you could not order pizzas online or pay your telephone bill with the click of a mouse. Today we take it as accepted that every business should have a web site. Australia is no exception to this rule. Virtually every business, big and small, knows that a web presence is necessary. The ecommerce web design Australia industry has therefore evolved into a flourishing and professional one.

The number and variety of web site designers in Australia has blossomed during the past fifteen years. Whether you therefore have a small home-based business and you want to sell your products online, or you are the MD of a large corporation, there will be a suitable ecommerce solution for you.

Before you pick a web designer, you must first analyse your own needs. If you run a small bsuiness from home and you would like to sell your products online, your needs are different from someone who has a wholesale business with thousands of products.

There are a few vital ingredients of any ecommerce website. In the first place you need a user-friendly shopping cart system. Your buyers should be able to add products to the shopping cart at any stage of the shopping process, as well as remove products form the shopping cart. There is nothing so frustrating as a shopping system that will not allow you to edit your shopping basket once you have chosen a product.

Secondly the website should be secure - it should clearly state that and it should show up as a secure site in your browser. Many people are still wary to use their credit cards online and nothing will scare them off more quickly than some or other error message saying that the site is not secure or that the security certificate has expired.

You will also need a payment processor. This is simply a company that will check whether the buyer has adequate money in his account, and then charge him and transfer the money to your account or hold it in escrow for you.

Your website should adhere to professional standards of design and layout. If it looks like a primary school child designed it, you will without doubt get fewer buyers than if it reflects a high standard of design and a logical layout.

Almost every single thing on the site is important. And where it is placed is also important. Research shows that certain areas on a web page gets higher numbers of clicks than other areas. Similarly certain colours tend to make visitors feel more relaxed than others and even font styles and text size will have an effect on how visitors view your website

A good Australian ecommerce web site design company will assist you with all the above. Maybe even by yourself.?

It is judged by it's looks! Let's not be so shallow people!

That's like judging the best athlete by her looks rather than her skill (oh wait we do that as well)!

My point isfor most people a website is a business tool.It is there to tell othersabout your services and productsIt is supposed to create a need for those services or products. It is also supposed to facilitate the acquiring of these services and products

It's supposed to help you expand your business.

Soa business website is simply an ad! Not a fine work of art!!

More correctly, it's a sales letter. So whats with the obsession with FLASH animation and delicately drawn pictures, Instead of worrying about ease of use and good copy? Sure, it doesn't have to look bad but function comes first- always!

Here is an illustration of what I mean

1. Remember the best ad you have ever seen on TV?
Got it? Great. Was it funny? Emotional? Catchy?

Now who was the ad for? What service or product? How much was it? Where can you get it?

Can't remember? Most people can't.

Your not to blame though

Amazingly, most advertisements fail to even mention what it is it is they are selling, never mind telling you how much it is or why and where to get it. They are really a complete waste of time and money

And so people get the idea that this is what an ad meant to be like. And this is carried over to what they do with their website.

However unlike TV, there are a lot more options and a lot more competitors. So, if a website if doesnt tell its visitor what they want to know there are thousands of other sites that maybe will

Whilst a website has to be ugly - indeed it should have some aesthetic value to it. But let's not get too hung up on it - do you think eBay or Amazon are good looking sites?

When you get your next website built remember to place function above form

I'ds say give me the less attractive web site that sells anyaday, over a beautiful award winning graphic masterpiece that doesnt. So should you.

Related Subjects

professional webdesign Australia
Cheap Web Design

Picking a Good Domain Name

When someone goes to register a domain name for their new website they often try for a domain name that closely matches their business name. Whilst this is not wrong and is worth doing if only to protect your business identity, it isn't always the best move for search engine ranking

So for example if your company name is ABC and Sons you register abcsons.com (say)

But

Why your domain name matters

Search Engine experts disagree how much this is a factor in how well you rank - but one this for sure it it helps you stand out. The terms or words that the person typed into the search box are highlighted in the results page. So having these words in your domain name makes it stand out more.

In our example above ABC and Sons are , say, lawyers then a better domain name for them would be ABClawyers.com. A better one still would be LawyersNewYour.com

But-Why does This Matter Anyway?

Two reasons..

1. Using key words in your domain name means they would be highlighted when someone searches for them. This in turn means you will stand out more and have a better chance of catching their attention as they scan the results page.

2. Although opinions are divided I believe it does affect in the ranking of the website. At the very least it makes it clearer what the site is about.

As with all things keep it sensible. It using your main keywords means a domain name that is too long then compromise is required

Register more than one domain- carefully

One way around this might be to register two - or more - domain name

So ABClawfirm.co.uk and LawFirmLondon.co.uk both point to the website for ABC and Sons

But a word of caution here - pick one as your main domain and redirect the others to it using 301 permanent redirects.

Google doesn't like duplicate content!

If that didn't make any sense to you then best to get your web designer to do it for you.

Related Subjects

business web design
Ecommerce website design
